New Year's Resolutions

It's been on my mind for several months now to compile a cookbook for friends and family, including, in particular, my children. I'm hoping that someday they will ask, "Mom, how do you make such-and-such?". I asked Gabrielle tonight how many memories she will have of me working in the kitchen, and she said, "A million and seventy-seven". I've been typing recipes here and there onto a word document, planning to create a cookbook when I've finished. However, I realized there is a strong likelihood that I will never finish, since I am constantly finding new and favored recipes. My main desire, however, is to preserve those little family gems--the unwritten recipes which have been passed down orally, or those recipes scratched onto stained and tattered recipe cards which, if lost, may never be replaced. This is a legacy I want to leave for my children--creating, cooking, and sharing together.
